01 — Foundation
Company Memory.
Make the company knowable to itself.

What it is
The foundation that makes AI useful for the company at all.
Most service companies are years away from being legible to AI. Calls are not transcribed. Decisions live in heads. Processes are tribal. Documents are scattered. The Memory is the work that makes the company queryable — calls into transcripts, documents into structured records, tribal process into legible workflow, decisions into recorded outcomes.
AI is fast once the data exists. The real work is making the data exist. That work is what the Memory product is. It is not a model and not a chatbot — it is the substrate every model and every chatbot fails without.
What you get
Operational reality, captured and structured.
The work takes a different shape in every company, but the substance is the same. Voice and phone conversations transcribed and categorized at scale. Email traffic classified, threaded, and made searchable by intent. Documents read by AI and structured into queryable fields. Decisions and exceptions recorded as data rather than human recollection. Processes documented as they actually run, not as they were drawn on a whiteboard once.
The deliverable is a company whose operation can be asked questions. What did our customers complain about last quarter, and how often? Which claims took the longest, and what did they have in common? Which clients have not been contacted in sixty days? These questions are unanswerable in most service companies today. After Memory, they are answerable in minutes.
Why this first
Skipping Memory is the most common AI mistake.
AI demos run everywhere now. A pattern report across a year of customer calls in twenty minutes. A summary of every contract in the company before lunch. The visible artifact is striking. The story underneath the demo is almost always that those twenty minutes rest on months of prior work to make the underlying data exist — and that work is what the demo never shows.
Companies that skip Memory produce one impressive demo and then plateau. Companies that build Memory produce a different report every twenty minutes, on demand, for years. The difference is not the model.
Where it fits
The first of three.
Memory is the foundation. Company Cortex runs on top of it — the AI middle-management layer that orchestrates work against the data Memory captures. Cortex Guard mediates access — identity, permission, audit — so the data Memory captures is reached only by the people and conversations allowed to.
Each is sold on its own. Memory without Cortex is a queryable company. Memory paired with Cortex is a queryable company that also runs its own discipline.
